[Thread] For as long as I can remember, I loved making compilation tapes - from the Top 40 radio countdown as a kid to years later compiling the tunes for the GQ Friday night office parties. Here’s an ongoing Twitter thread of tunes I’ve lived & loved... x.com/LongwellRecord…

On April 19, 1989, four days after the Hillsborough disaster, the European Cup semi final at San Siro between @acmilan and Real Madrid was stopped in the 7th minute for a moment of silence. Then the Milan fans began to sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ ❤️

I absolutely love this - and when Totti is stood behind her, brilliant moment. #ASRoma

Worst ever experience at a UEFA final. Arrived 2 hours before kick off, turnstiles wouldn’t let fans with tickets in - massive crush. My daughter was pinned against a turnstile in tears. Stewards ignored it - it was fans that lifted her up to safety. Then tear gassed leaving.

Seeing Boris Becker trending on Twitter today brought back memories of when the lifelong Bayern Munich fan won the Wirral International Tennis Trophy in June 1989 and immediately donated his £25,000 prize money to the Hillsborough Disaster Fund. He was just 21 at the time.

This is traumatic viewing but exactly what we experienced at Gate C. My daughter and a kid were pinned against the barrier & had to be lifted up to stop being crushed. Filming wasn’t possible as needed both hands to try and push back against the barrier.

This is brilliant. In a week where there's been a big debate about sporting behaviour, to see these U15 kids really taking the time to console the Milan players after #ASRoma won the title is everything

Claudio Ranieri struggling to hold back the tears when the fans thanked him during the game last night said everything about just how much it meant for him to return home to coach Roma
