I would have forwarded his email back to him and highlighted the time (after double-checking that it was 5 EDT). And if it was a different time, I would say something along the lines of Outlook set the appointment for 5 EDT by mistake. If he doesn't care, screw him.

You know, there's a really good chance that if he were alive today, he wouldn't be saying that. If you compare his shows with society at the time, you'll find that he most likely would have been one of the first to talk about gender identity and been for acceptance.
