    Ive faced this quite a few times now and eventually come to the conclusion that they dont need me to be their family/loved one but their Doctor. So my last words reflect that. “I’ll take care of you. Ill make sure you’re in no pain. We’ll talk again once you’re better. Sleep now”

    Unpopular opinion but the systems based approach in the ICU never made sense to me. Problems based approach gives a true overview “CVS: Hypotension, needing pressors GI: massive lower GI bleed” doesn’t mean much “Hemorrhagic shock 2/2 massive lower GI bleed does” 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Firstly, my condolences. As an atheist I’ve always pondered over, “Where do we go?”. Ive come to the understanding that we go nowhere but then we truly never “leave”. Amazing to see how your grandfather will Continue to exist in you, the resident he trained and many others. ❤️

    Would take a photo of said surgeons and self (thus getting a date and time stamp). Then ask the manager to go write up informing them that right after he/she’ll be written up to HR for gender discrimination and harassment. 2 can play this game 👍🏽
