Can you rejuvenate an old brain by giving it young immune cells? 🧠 My lab @calico put it to the test. In our new study, we replaced the brain's immune cells in old mice with young ones. The result? The old brain environment forced the young cells to age RAPIDLY. A 🧵👇

Thrilled to see our map of the aging mouse brain published in @CellCellPress. We find that white matter tracts are hotspots of brain aging, where (micro)glia appear to age faster. Thanks to @wysscoray and an incredible team for getting this done! tinyurl.com/3hnwvd8j

It was a very special experience to visit the @MPIAGE to speak at a symposium celebrating my PhD advisor and incredible mentor Prof. Linda Partridge! The excellent science, catching up with old friends and many throwbacks left we with a whirlwind of emotions. This was fantastic🤩

New study by @wysscoray and team finds brain-wide gene signatures of aging in glial cells. The research, partly supported by our AHA-Allen initiative, also found that glial cell aging is accelerated in white matter and not all regions are equally impacted. cell.com/cell/fulltext/…
