The final song for the end of steam season 🎶 As the locomotive returns to our shop in New Haven, Indiana this week, it joins a number of winter maintenance and restoration projects as we start looking ahead to a busy year in 2024.
To mark the occasion of returning steam to the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway, the 765 carries the five-chime whistle of former W&LE locomotive No. 6428, which was later renumbered 828 when the Nickel Plate leased the railroad. For one day in May, its music will be heard again.
