Early this morning, DOCCS had been made aware of a despicable social media post by an employee of the Department. The comments made by this correction officer are in violation of multiple Department rules and will not be tolerated.

- Replying to @NYSDOCCSThis vile posting does not represent the morals and values of the thousands of staff members in the Department. The individual responsible has been suspended without pay and DOCCS will be seeking termination.
- Replying to @NYSDOCCSThe Department has engaged the Civil Rights Task Force, which we are members of, for potential criminal prosecution. The Department has also launched an internal investigation to identify and discipline any staff who may have engaged with the posting.
- With the need for masks greater now than ever, individuals who work in the tailor shops at Coxsackie and Clinton Correctional Facilities have been hard at work producing hundreds of thousands of surgical masks for use in DOCCS facilities, other state agencies and the community.
- Day six of the illegal strike by some correction officers. COs continuing to take part in this illegal job action are violating the law. They will be considered absent without leave (AWOL) and are being docked pay for every day on strike.
- A college graduation ceremony was held at Elmira Correctional Facility wherein seven incarcerated individuals earned Associate of Arts degrees from Corning Community College in conjunction with the Cornell Prison Education Program (CPEP).
- Today, DOCCS Acting Commissioner Anthony Annucci was awarded the national Michael Francke Career Achievement Award at the @CLALeadership 2022 Winter Conference. The award is given in honor and memory of Francke, who was slain in the line of duty in 1989.
- Visitation in all DOCCS facilities is cancelled until further notice.

- Over the weekend, Boy Scouts traveled to local fire depts & police stations to show their appreciation through uplifting messages in chalk. They even paid a visit to Attica CF, sharing colorful messages to lift the spirits of essential staff as they entered work for their shift!
