Given the targeted shootings of state lawmakers overnight, we are asking the public to not attend today’s planned demonstrations across Minnesota out of an abundance of caution.

In the course of clearing the streets and restoring order at Lake Street and Snelling Avenue, four people were arrested by State Patrol troopers, including three members of a CNN crew. The three were released once they were confirmed to be members of the media.

It doesn’t matter if you’re cheering “Skol!” or “Go Pack Go!” Be a team player by designating a sober driver or calling a rideshare. Enjoy the game, but don’t let jail become your end zone. For the record, it matters a little bit 😃 Skol! Go Vikes!

Wind: 1. Trooper: 0. A trooper directing traffic around a jackknifed semi this morning on Highway 86 & Interstate 90 in Jackson County was knocked to the ground by a wind gust. The trooper was not injured but the video is a reminder of theconditions caused by this snowstorm.

We’re heartbroken by the loss of Trooper Mollie McClure, who died in an off-duty accident in South Dakota. She served with compassion, professionalism and heart. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones.

Don’t be this guy. One our troopers stopped this vehicle on Highway 10 in Elk River on Feb. 14. The driver said he hoped the snow would just blow off. He was issued multiple citations. Clean off your vehicles BEFORE you hit the road.

Our troopers are going call to call responding to crashes and spinouts. It’s not fun being out in the brutal cold, snow and wind. But they do it because they’re passionate about helping Minnesotans. A big thank you to all of our troopers and other first responders! Stay safe!

Snow doesn’t cause crashes. Poor driving decisions cause crashes. Slow down, increase your following distance, and give yourself extra time today. #mnwx

K-9 Layka is hanging up her collar today after nine years of service. Layka patrolled the I-35 corridor in southern MN. Layka sniffed out hundreds of pounds of illegal narcotics during her career. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement and thank you for your service, Layka.

There has been and will be an increased presence of State Patrol troopers at the Minnesota Capitol in light of recent protests here and in Washington, D.C.

This is Interstate 90 near Magnolia. We aren't sure what else it will take to convince you not to drive in these conditions. The roads are terrible, including in the metro area where they are covered in black ice. Stay home. For your safety. For ours.

Trooper Mollie McClure was on I-94 near Avon when she saw a female deer pacing along a fence line. She could also hear a vocal young fawn. Turns out the little one was stuck in the fencing. McClure wiggled the fawn free and reunited it will its mother. Great job!
