One day I will tell my story in full. But for now: Trust your instincts. Know your worth. Be brave enough to forge your own lane if it does not exist. Choose your mentors wisely. And above all, do not be afraid to step into your purpose, because itโ€™s absolutely beautiful here

I am ashamed to live in a society that would overlook the most vulnerable. Including children under the age of 5 who have been willfully forgotten in all this

A few things: 1. Shout out to Zimbabwean scientist Dr Sikhulile Moyo, based in Botswana, who first sequenced #omicron ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ผ 2. Vaccine equity is about supply in most countries, but also access and culturally specific education esp. where valid mistrust exists like in South Africa

Support Black women BEFORE we need to withdraw, before we need to resign, before we need to stop, before we shut down.

Today I was sworn in as the Director of Health for the City of St. Louis. I brought my daughters to see. That they, like every child, every young girl, every young Black immigrant girl, can be their authentic selves and succeed. You are enough. Your light is needed. Never give up

Thank you to the scientists in South Africa that were transparent and vigilant in bringing this new variant of concern, omicron, to light. Stigmatizing a country that has been exemplary in implementing mitigation strategies is wrong. Global vaccine equity is the only answer
The majority of #Africaโ€™s health workers are still missing out on vaccines and remain dangerously exposed to severe #COVID19 infection. Unless our doctors, nurses and other frontline workers get full protection we risk a blowback in the efforts to curb this disease.

1/4) A patient refused to see my trainee after hearing her accent. He said he wanted someone he could โ€œactually communicate withโ€. The look on her face and sadness in her voice when she told me broke my heart. Reminded me of the multiple times this happened to me for being Black

My 2 year old, through congestion, a cough and double pink eye, just cupped my chin with her little hand, and said โ€œI love you mommy, you make me feel safeโ€ during our bedtime routine. There is nothing I could do, achieve, accomplish that will ever beat that. Ever
