Being conservative or progressive on every single issue is intellectually lazy & unfaithful. Critique and push back on these flawed ideologies. Make conservatism sympathize & pursue racial justice. Make progressivism acknowledge absolute truth & the sanctity of life. #AND2020

Democrats went from “safe, legal and rare” to enacting some of the most extreme abortion laws in the world. They’ve been reckless. However, if the conservative position is actually rooted in compassion, they’ll act on healthcare, paid family leave and childcare post-Roe.

Many Christians, who are rightly promoting social justice, have become conspicuously quiet or ambiguous on the sanctity of life. I fear it’s because secular academics and activists frown on it. Wielding influence in Christian spaces while seeking secular validation is dangerous.

My view of racism isn’t derived from Critical Race Theory. It’s based on what the Bible says about love, hatred, injustice and abuses of power. That biblical frame is applied to historical facts, elders’ insights, my experiences & the thoughts of giants like Fredrick Douglass.

Roe v. Wade has been overturned. Time to double down on protecting, supporting and advocating for our sisters with crisis pregnancies. Pro-Woman (&) Pro-Child #WholeLifeProject

The deconstruction of Christianity is trending, but it’s not new. American slaveholders also deconstructed the Bible for their own purposes. Make sure you’re deconstructing idols and false teaching not simply carving out exceptions for your brokenness and sin to thrive.

Your chances of changing someone’s mind about SCOTUS overturning Roe v. Wade on social media today is about 0.0001%. State your case, but I’d advise against spending your entire weekend engaged in combative social media drama.

Christians, don’t strive to be ideologically conservative or progressive. Set out to be faithful, which will cause you to critique and admonish both parties when necessary. #AND2020 Compassion (&) Conviction

PSA: Christians, at some point, you’ll have to defy ideological progressivism and conservatism to have a faithful public witness. You can’t follow all the tenets of the political right or left and follow Christ. Both want your heart and both must be denied it. #AND2020

Christians, our blind and unqualified party allegiances empower some really destructive people and messages. Think long and hard before you endorse a political party on behalf of Christianity. #AND2020

One ugly reality about hating your political opponents is that you start off hating their vices and end up hating their virtues as well. In your contempt, you begin to believe that everything about them is wrong, even their insights and practices that could improve you. (&)

Do you know what’s more effective than creating statements condemning Critical Race Theory? Actually dismantling racism so CRT is obsolete. Evangelicals still can’t see that their lack of credibility on racial justice lends credence to the things they condemn.

We’re far too comfortable with being Christian-ish. We embrace the language, symbols and trapping of the faith, but we flee when the substance and tenets of the faith threaten our comfort or ambitions. Seeking the path of least resistance is not winsome. It’s unfaithful.
