- OK I found my words. I am howling with rage tonight at the rising tide of violence and hate crimes directed towards Asians in America, punctuated by the horrific shootings yesterday in Georgia at 3 Asian-owned business that claimed 8 lives, including those of 6 Asian women.
- With our publication in @NatureMedicine on pandemic-related barriers to the success of women in research, I’d like to shine a spotlight on gender equity for women physician-scientists, who face cumulative barriers imposed in medicine AND science rdcu.be/cHd4a 1/n
- So incredibly proud of my amazing husband @SeanM_Wu, my role model and inspiration, on his promotion to full professor @StanfordDeptMed! 🥳🍾🥂 Thinking back to these kids who thought it would be a lark to become physician-scientists. What a journey!
- This is why it matters to disaggregate the data for Asian groups in the US. Considering all AAPIs together hides enormous variations in income and education nytimes.com/interactive/20…
- Sometimes science is just so cool. In @NatureMedicine: The distribution of cellular turnover in the human body rdcu.be/cdKmM The rate of turnover is 330 billion cells/day (4 million cells/second). 🤯 Blood cells make up about 90% by number but only 40% by mass.
- We have learned so much from conditional mouse knockouts, but single Cre drivers have limitations. Now in @CellStemCell: a suite of new Dre recombinase drivers opens up new possibilities in genetic targeting 🧬 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
- The Stanford vaccine algorithm failed to prioritize housestaff. We @StanfordDeptMed faculty stand with @StanfordMedRes. Except for the high-risk, #StanDOM faculty, division chiefs and @HeartBobH have volunteered to wait until all housestaff have been vaccinated. #HousestaffFirst
- On today's AAPI women leaders panel, we discussed learning to speak up. A 🧵 for introverts: 8 year-old me could have been a contender for the world’s most introverted introvert. That I might one day become a division chief would surprise (and terrify) her. 1/
- It means a lot to me to start as division chief during #AAPIHeritageMonth. TIme to update my photo, seems fitting that the backdrop is bamboo 🎋 Grateful for the chance to break glass and bamboo ceilings in #Endocrinology @StanfordDeptMed 🙏🏼
