NHS staff have not hesitated to look after those we love throughout this pandemic. Through their own fear, their own grief, their own exhaustion, they stepped up and they carried on. They are the best of public service, the best of us. Thank you NHS. #gotyourbackNHS

I am very sorry & angry to see NHS colleagues at Milton Keynes covid testing centre harassed & intimidated at their place of work. Our staff having to deal with increasing aggression & violence for simply doing their job. It’s abhorrent, unacceptable & we will not stand for it

We’ve unveiled our new staff benefits programme today - the start of a 3yr programme. Includes free parking for staff, increasing flex working @FlexNHS, increasing special leave, free tea & coffee & enhanced wellbeing services. Caring for @MKHospital while they care for patients

If you’re a new doc reading about what a ‘snowflake’ you are in the national press, take it from me. I don’t know any NHS snowflakes. I know bold, brave, brilliant people in every job, at every stage of their careers in the NHS who work incredibly hard in often v difficult circs.

    Replying to @JoeHMK
The threat came as a response to media access. I have reported 2 police I welcome debate & will listen to feedback on any issue. Threats like this aren’t debate. They are meant to frighten & control. I do not tolerate abuse & violence against NHS staff & I will call it out 2/2

It is harder now than it has been in the NHS. Staff are fragile & when we say ‘the system is under pressure’, we mean ‘the people are under pressure’. But NHS staff please know your constant hard work is seen & appreciated. And thank you. Of course it’s not enough. But thank you.

Today I received a death threat as CEO @MKHospital. I have never been concerned about giving media access to the hospital I am privileged to lead, because I am proud of my staff & the care we provide. Today I worried. I guess that’s what these threats are designed to do. 1/2

The #oxfordvaccine is welcome news. We have more than 200 patients with covid-19 in our hospital, double the number of the first peak. Our staff @MKHospital are working phenomenally hard in incredibly difficult circumstances. I know thank you isn’t enough, but thank you #TeamMKUH

Our staff are working flat out, doing their utmost to provide the best possible care to the thousands of people who walk through our doors every week. Please treat them with respect - don’t shout & swear at them. Don’t forget they are people too, showing up, doing their best #NHS

We are shortly going to start free evening meals for staff working late @MKHospital & staff staying away from home. We already provide free drinks & free parking & are opening a new staff wellbeing centre. Caring for those who care has never been more important #ClapForTheNHS

We’re acting to address the structural inequality we know exists in the NHS @MKHospital. As a CEO it’s my job to be a vocal & active ally - to lead, enable & empower change. To raise the voices of others & quiet my own. To stand in solidarity & to take action. #BlackLivesMatter

I have been vaccinated & boosted, so have my loved ones, including my 12 year old twins. I’ve even trained as a vaccinator. Having seen the ravages of Covid, including losing my mum, I’d ask every single person eligible to get vaccinated & boosted. Vaccines save lives. #NHS

The fortitude of staff across the NHS, their capacity to continue through the most devastating & difficult circumstances many of us have ever faced & now mobilising to deliver a vaccination programme at speed & scale. It is truly incredible. Thank you. To every single one of you
