My sister is inside this hospital being operated on by dedicated neurosurgeons and cared for by nurses. They are keeping the sickest people in Northern Ireland alive today. They deserve their pay. We need to work together to sort out local issues. Now.

So proud of our girl 🥰 She set up a little charity sale table outside our house in aid of Ukraine and has managed to raise £500. Thanks to all our neighbours and friends, and family for matched donations! 💕@GlencraigIPS

Credit to @ClandeboyeGC for achieving host status for this landmark event. A successful and enjoyable launch today.
Delighted to speak today at the launch of the @PGAEuroProTour Masters Golf Tournament at @ClandeboyeGC. This will be a landmark sporting event in North Down this summer, showcasing our history and scenery, and sporting talent.

This is inherently flawed economics. Discourse creates expectations and fuels behaviour, which can become self-fulfilling - driving spending and investment down. What is to be achieved from signalling ‘tough times ahead’ after yrs of failed austerity? theguardian.com/politics/artic…

NI is on a very concerning trajectory. Something must give - and soon - to prevent deep and lasting damage
NI university places could be cut; the money going to further education is being cut, funding of adult (over 25s) apprenticeships isn’t happening & Invest NI will struggle to make many new offers of grant support. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northe…

Really enjoyed the Making a Difference in Education event today, where I represented @StephenFarryMP. Such passion for our children’s education with a focus on tackling educational underachievement in areas within North Down and Ards 👏🏻

NI urgently needs a fiscal floor to stabilise public finances and enable transformation. The current situation is unsustainable
The UK Government must recognise structural underfunding in NI. @StephenFarryMP has written to the Chancellor again to reinforce the case for a Fiscal Floor, alongside our proposals for transformation and stabilisation funding for NI.
A screenshot of a letter from Stephen Farry MP to the Chancellor on yellow letterheaded MP paper, making the case for a fiscal for in Northern Ireland.

An excerpt: "there is a legitimate case that NI has been substantially underfunded over the 2021 Spending Review period. The extent of this underfunding is in the region of £1.2bn over the SR21 funding period based on the 124% measure of relative need and up to £1.463bn based on the 129% measure. "

Good to see budget agreed. DoH still in receipt of majority of resource DEL. There is little that can realistically be achieved within 1 yr budget but important that focus now shifts to transformation. Must do things differently to deliver better public services for NI

This is a consequence of recent stop/start messaging and mixed signals by the Government. Confidence underpins credibility. Loss of credibility spooks markets. Rising borrowing costs will reduce spending headroom in the forthcoming Budget. The Chancellor needs to take control.
“Rachel Reeves needs to walk a tightrope, otherwise the gilt market will limit her ability to deliver much of Labour’s agenda” The UK’s long-term borrowing costs ratchet up, investors anxious about path of fiscal policy. Today’s story with @Sam1Fleming on.ft.com/3ZWIZfU
