When I sent this email to Enda Fitz about a potential new DCU recruit in 2016 called Sophie Becker, little did I know what we were getting into (& that she was actually from Wexford) Eight years later, she has done alright.

Training partners from over the last decade came out to pay tribute to Craig Lynch tonight in Santry doing the session he loved to hate the most, 9 x 200 off 2mins (or 2:10 in old Lynch recovery money) 📷 @Cathal_Dennehy

The Dublin Relay Championships were paused last night at 8pm in Lucan so all could watch the 4x400 relay action from Rome. Tallaght AC’s Cecil Johnson leading on the mic, with pockets of athletes, coaches & parents huddled around phones.

8 years apart. Different Olympic dreams, desolation on the track. All connected. Craig Lynch, training partner of Sophie Becker. Thomas Barr, boyfriend of Kelly McGrory Brian Gregan, husband of Ciara McCallion, a key physio for many on the team David Gillick, telling the story

Today is Craig Lynch’s 30th birthday. Proud that the winner each year of the @irishathletics Men’s 60m title will now receive the Craig Lynch Cup. Craig won the title in 2016 in 6.81. His family will be present in Abbotstown in 3 weeks time to present the Cup to the 2020 winner

Gives hope to any kid who finishes 106th in the All-Ireland Cross Country. Three years of hard work came down, in the end, to one race and he delivered with that 45 second run at Nationals.
A dream come true. Im going to the Olympics!!! 🇮🇪🇫🇷🇮🇪🇫🇷

Gutted to update that a great athletics man passed today, Jerry Senior, my father. ‘The curlew takes to flight and as he flies out over the empty sad fields of West Cork, With his lonesome call he must tell the world that The big fella has fallen and that Jerry is gone.

Thank you @ciaramageean, with this ‘I can definitely assure you that all the athletes that toe the line there are not amateur in their approach to our sport’ you have nailed it. Hopefully CEO of AAI Hamish Adams will get that now.
