    Today is the worst of days. Can’t believe it. He was the best of people. A lovely, lovely human being. Hilarious. A fabulous story teller. A man of impeccable taste. An inspiration. A friend. A comrade in arms. It’s so hard to imagine our world without him.

    The world of dance music has been my life since I was a teenager. It’s my vocation, my passion, my church, my everything & has also always been my escape from lad culture. That culture has permeated it more & more in recent times. Enough already! Fuck bullshit toxic masculinity

    Fascists running amok in Glasgow city centre any time let alone twice in a week just cannot stand. It is terrifying, and if you are Black, Asian, Catholic or a refugee it is terrifying and potentially extremely dangerous. We all need to stand up to this. #nopasaran

    So hard to process @jackmaster leaving us. Shocked to the core. I had known him since he was a teenager & he was my neighbour these last few years. A complicated character, but a phenomenal talent. Sending all the love in the world to his family; Sean, Kate & Johnny.

    One last bit of nostalgia - we always loved putting together slightly unhinged line ups. This one - Hawkwind supported by The Aphex Twin possibly shouldn't have worked but turned out to be a belter.

    Steve Albini famously hated dance music. Our attitude has always been if people will dance to it it's 'dance music' so we took great glee in the fact that Shellac's "Prayer To God" was an early era Optimo dancefloor hit. I must revive it! youtube.com/watch?v=z0jw5q…

    It is exactly a year since I played to a dancefloor, in Helsinki. One could sense a feeling of nervousness in the air about what was looming. Also exactly a year ago I was diagnosed as diabetic. I found out today that I have managed to reverse that and am not diabetic any more.

    This weekend it will be 33 years since I started DJing. It is the only thing I have ever done for a living. I try to remain optimistic about the future but sometimes that is not so easy and I find I cope better mainly staying off social media.
