Kicking is the one aspect of football that gets objectively easier the higher up you go. Better snaps, better holders, tighter hashes and a better ball to kick all in your favor compared to not being able to kick off a block and the field goal being slightly wider in HS
Beyond just the fact that college kickers tend to be worse, the wider hash marks in cfb make it harder on them too.
In the NFL the hashes line up with the width of the goal post. In college, they don’t. The horizontal angle is a lot harsher to adjust for the closer you get.
JMU may have just put up one of the MOST lopsided special teams performances in football history.
