I was able to visit the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford — the oldest school for the deaf in the country. Incredibly proud that Connecticut is home to this institution and the students, educators, and staff who make it extraordinary.
- Connecticut enacted one of the first hate crimes laws in the country in 1990. Today I will sign PA 26-77 to make those protections stronger and more enforceable than ever. Your freedom to live, worship, and love without fear is not negotiable.
- CT keeps leading on gun safety‼️ This morning I signed legislation banning the sale and importation of firearms that can be easily converted into automatic machine guns. Tonight I will join the Junior Newtown Action Alliance for a rally on National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
