- Today, we mourn the loss of inspirational leader and legendary coach John R. Thompson Jr. (1941 - 2020), whose contributions on and off the court will forever be felt on our campus and around the world. Because he stood tall, so too have countless others.
- On this day in 1972 we hired Coach Thompson to lead our Hoyas. 49 years later our team, led by his protege, has won the Big East Championship and will head to the NCAA Tournament. Congratulations Coach Ewing. Hoya Saxa!
