Cal HS Baseball players… the JC route is not what you think. It is not an extension of HS baseball or low level education. It is affordable education that provides UC transferable units, tough competition, and experience that better prepares you for the 4 yr without the debt..

Players often complicate things and think the difference maker is a complex trick or gimmick. The minimum for development is consistent work. Simple work done consistently provides dividends, so challenge your self to start simple and be consistent, then step up the complexity.

HS Players don’t be discouraged by NCAA dead period extension. Shift your priorities. Focus on developing your skills and improving your game. You can’t skip development, now it’s all you have to focus on. Competition and exposure isn’t going anywhere, it’s available year round.

Truth: why do most who develop amateur pitchers focus on velo? Bc it’s the easiest thing to teach and prove. Anyone can improve velo by working out, throwing more, with more intent, even if you’re doing it incorrectly. Most are throwing coaches masked as “pitching” coaches…

Pitchers need to be able to pitch! Doing everything they can to throw harder, but they can’t pitch! Watched a JC fall game, pitchers doing all these eyewash drills with med balls and weighted balls before they pitched.. Not 1 could throw strikes. If U can’t pitch, U won’t play

Cal JCs do it right.. like a JV program for College. Saves families $, while giving UC gen ed. Kid isn’t going to play or make an impact as a fresh/soph they should go to JC. Change recruiting rules will benefit all parties.. better JC ball, save $, more mature 4 year programs

Also left out you can pay an extra $1K to guarantee a game at East Cobb Complex. Stopped bringing my teams there after last year. 440 teams last year. All honesty there’s not 400 quality teams in an age brackets. Last year we played 7 games, 2 teams were competitive.

The saying “a fool and his gold are soon parted”. Passion and love for the game makes your work ethic enjoyable bc it leads to playing the game longer. Don’t fall into the trap of “fools gold” and chase numbers, scholarships, money. Chase the love of the game, the rest will come.

If you aren’t willing to take 100 swings a day, for 7 days in a row, then stop thinking 1 day of working on your “Launch Angle” or “Exit Velo” is going to make you a better hitter. Good hitters are consistent, players need to develop consistent work habits first.

Player been diagnosed w/ overuse by a sports dr, been working with a “pitching instructor” for 4 mons. Instructor’s claimed to “help” so many guys. Asked the player what he worked on, not 1 thing about “pitching”..only body/arm movements. 🤦‍♂️. Beware, they are everywhere #frauds

Parents: your kids want their relationship with you to be about love and support, the minute they associate their sport to your judgement and ridicule they love their love for the game because their love for you is more powerful!

Parents/Players: We’re in a day and age where players are molded to be selfish and entitled. No one gets anywhere on or off the field without help, hard work, and self sacrifice from others. Don’t forget those people bc those who use others will be those who get used by others.
