Our teachers want to be in the classroom, but have been forced into this #EISStrike by the inaction of the Scottish Government and COSLA who have refused to make any improvement to a pay offer that was roundly rejected by teachers three months ago. #PayAttention

#PayAttention We have a phenomenal result from our consultative ballot, announced just minutes ago. 91% have voted for strike action in pursuit of a better pay offer, with 94% overall voting to reject 5%. Turnout a threshold-smashing 78% Thank you to all members who voted! ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿

This offer is nothing less than an abject insult to Scotland’s hard-working teaching professionals. After months of prevarication & weeks of empty promises, COSLA & SG come back with an offer than is worth that same 5% to the vast majority of teachers.

Teachers and school staff do not drink alcohol in their places of work, as this would be wholly inappropriate. Most haven't been in the same room as their colleagues throughout the pandemic, because they were following the rules set out by government. @Mike_Fabricant @BBCNews

Today marks 27 years since the tragedy at Dunblane Primary. We continue to remember all the innocent victims. 16 P1 children & their teacher, Gwen Mayor, were killed that day & many more were wounded physically & emotionally. This year, & every year, they remain in our thoughts.

The offer to Scotland's teachers is not 6.85% - that's just @scotgov spin. The average value of the 'new' offer to teachers is 5.07%. Basically, it's a reheated version of the same 5% offer our members overwhelming rejected in a ballot 3 months ago. @BBCNewsnight

The @EISUnion General Secretary has written to the @heraldscotland Editor regarding yesterday's column that urged teachers to "rise to the challenge" of COVID19. Teachers are continuing to do all they can to support young people, including in Hub schools & via online platforms.

English schools to have Dec 18th as inset day. Minister Nick Gibb said, "We want there to be 6 clear days so that by the time we reach Christmas Eve, staff can have a proper break without having to engage in track and trace issues." Even UK Tories better than SG and COSLA!
