    With mixed emotions, I announce my departure from UAB to become president and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Sept. I am grateful to have been part of this UAB family, and leave behind an outstanding community of clinicians, researchers, students, and staff.

    Today we announced a landmark $400 million gift from Kenneth Griffin, Founder and CEO of @Citadel and Founder of Griffin Catalyst and David Geffen, Founder of The David Geffen Foundation. This is the largest single gift in @MSKCancerCenter’s nearly 150-year history.

    I am deeply saddened by the loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She spent her life pioneering justice and equity. "To make life a little better for people less fortunate than you. That's what I think a meaningful life is. One lives not just for oneself, but for one's community."
