I’ve been a GP for 30 years. Immigrants are NOT the reason you can’t get an appointment. Absolute poppycock. Thanks.

Having looked after covid positive patients, at all levels of severity, for the past 4 years, I’ve learned this - underestimate it at your peril. Professional athletes should not be undertaking high level exercise until fully recovered.

OK medical Twitter, if this isn’t the ideal location for a #gastroenterology conference, I don’t know what is. Not only that, but it’s located here……(1/2)

Talking to new F1/F2 Drs this week. Can’t book leave or arrange future events, can’t park at hosp and parking tickets common when on long shift, messed up salary payments. Whatever the reasons, it’s no way to treat employees. No wonder people are leaving.

GPs must have some sort of limit to their workload. It cannot be an open ended daily free for all, without limits, triaging, F2F and everything else. Massive resource mismatch. It’s in nobody’s best interests, patients included (and no, I don’t have a simple solution).

The main reason for needing a white coat back in the day. I guess it’s all on a smartphone nowadays? #CheeseAndOnion

I took this video last week on a long walk along the Cornish coastline, with the intention of putting something nice on a few timelines. I hope it works.

I don’t think I’ve ever known general practice as busy (understatement). A very tired team. We’ve been going flat out since 8am without a break and no sign of an end yet. I only break off for a few seconds to mention this because some people seem to think we’re having a ball

Quickest way to improve medical manpower? Retain. The. Ones. You. Already. Have. This seems to have been forgotten by those with the power (and those hoping to have the power) to do something about it.

Would any fellow GPs like to hazard a guess at how this will be interpreted by our patients?.......🤔
Our pharmacists play such an important role in our communities. Brilliant to have our groundbreaking drug - dexamethasone - available across the country

Telephone triaging in primary care is a bit like sitting an 8-12 hour multiple choice exam, interspersed with 10 minute games of Russian roulette with the potentially fatal infectious disease du jour

I've lost count of the numbers of patients who told me that they were voting leave on the basis of £350M a wk to nhs
Today @Gove2016 promises the NHS £100mn a week. Err hang on sir - look at what you promised us in EU election....

Thoughts from my experience in primary care at this stage in the pandemic and the busiest week I can remember in 20yrs. Firstly, it continues to get busier. Although covid contacts are up, that seems not to be driving it directly (Thread)

Just 1 month to the shortest day, then the days start to get longer again
