The @RoyalNavy is the oldest UK armed forces. As part of the DNE, they deliver and assure the UK’s nuclear deterrent. As the nation’s ultimate security guarantee this is their ‘no fail’ endeavour and top priority - deterring the most extreme threats we and our @NATO Allies face.

The arrival of two shipping containers to @HMNBClyde marks a step forward in submarine maintenance. Housing additive manufacturing capabilities, they will enable critical components to be manufactured on-site. The capability will reduce delays and support operational readiness.

We’re looking at the evolution of how UK submarines are powered. Starting with petrol, the development of diesel-power increased operational radius. The 1st nuclear-powered submarine, Dreadnought (S101) further developed the service. Today UK submarines have an unlimited range.
