Just came from Mel Stottlemyre’s funeral. His boat was named “Mo in the ninth”. He was so proud of you Mariano. Congratulations and thanks for the rings!

1998 ticker tape parade. My Dad in the brown coat on the float with me. So proud to share that day with him. The man who taught me to pitch. Thanks Dad for everything you taught me. Ed Cone was my hero. RIP Dad

He was more than a great pitcher and fantastic pitching coach. He was a father figure and touched so many in a positive way. We lost a great man. RIP Mel Stottlemyre

25 years ago I got the curtain call of a lifetime. Thanks for remembering. The feeling is almost indescribable but suffice to say that throwing a perfect game at Yankee Stadium on Yogi Berra day was beyond overwhelming and I still can’t believe it happened.

Every year we all need a reminder that the MLB season is a marathon. Character matters. Personalities matter. Toughness matters. Things that can’t be quantified matter.
