Fines for failing to pay the TTC’s $3.30 fare are $425.
Meanwhile, every day, thousands of drivers are given $30 parking tickets for failing to properly pay for public storage of their vehicle.
Why is there such a large discrepancy?

So much space for people on bikes, foot, strollers, and all other active transportation. More of this kind of #ActiveTO is needed across the city. #BikeTO lanes temporary and permanent too! For our city's healthy future.
Cycle Toronto win. In response to our legal action, the province has backtracked from an alleged December start and confirms no bike lane removal will begin until at least March 2025.
"Our goal is that they don't ever get the chance to start at all” Michael Longfield, ED.
Olivia Chow will be the first Toronto mayor to ride a bike to City Hall since the 1980s!
Could this be the start of a golden era for cycling and active transportation in Toronto?
Have our streets become safer for riding a bike since John Sewell was mayor?

This morning, Cycle Toronto launched a Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Section 7 challenge to the provincial government’s Bill 212.
The lawsuit also seeks an immediate injunction to prevent the removal of target bike lanes on Bloor, University, and Yonge.
Cycle Toronto deputed at Executive Committee yesterday urging the city to resist Bill 212 and to make it clear that there isn't a metre or kilometre of bike lane we'll accept being removed.
“Bike lanes could have saved our daughter”
This was George and Karen Amaro’s message in a letter to Premier Ford urging him to put an end to Bill 212. The bill would block most new bike lanes and possibly lead to the removal of existing ones.

What a morning! Congratulations to Mayor Olivia Chow on her inaugural day in office. It was a pleasure to ride with her down to City Hall.
Thanks to all who came to showcase the diverse group of people who ride bikes across Toronto.
It's a big day for cycling infrastructure in Toronto. Bike lanes are being installed on University Ave – part of the new, accelerated grid we approved just a few weeks ago. Proud to have worked w/ @m_layton, local hospitals, advocates, the Mayor and Council to make this happen.
ICYMI George and Karen's daughter Alex Amaro was killed riding her bike on Dufferin Street in December 2020. They're asking Premier Ford and Minister Sarkaria to stop the anti-bike lane legislation Bill 212. Listen to their story on @metromorningcbc.ca/listen/live-ra…
