(1) On May 7 at approximately 12:46 a.m. Columbia Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 20 block of South 10th Street. A video recording of our officers’ use of force with a subject has been brought to the attention of the Columbia Police Department.

- The suicidal female is in custody.
- Motorists traveling through the downtown should be alert for intermittent street closures, such as Providence & Broadway, due to demonstrations. CPD is committed to supporting peaceful protests, ensuring the safety of residents & supporting demonstrators’ constitutional rights.
- Columbia Police, Columbia Fire and Office of Emergency Management is aware of the loud "boom" in the Columbia area. Agencies are currently working to determine what caused the noise.
- (1) At approximately 12:15 p.m. today Columbia Police responded to a report that a student at Rock Bridge High School was possibly armed. As school security was unaware of the student’s location, we dispatched multiple officers to the scene out of an abundance of caution.
00:00 - (1) Today we honor the memory of Officer Molly Thomas-Bowden, the first and only Columbia Police officer killed in the line of duty. Officer Bowden was mortally wounded while conducting a routine traffic stop on the night of Jan. 10, 2005.
- We are currently responding to the East Campus area to disperse any illegal gatherings. If you are hosting a party, blocking streets or blocking driveways with vehicles, officers will take appropriate enforcement action as needed.
- We are so grateful for our community partners! Van Hawxby has been working all week to move his operations at @DogMasterDistil from producing alcohol to supporting his community. Today his team provided each officer at @ColumbiaPD with a small bottle of Hand Sanitizer.
