I love the famous equality/equity/justice cartoon & have used it a lot in talks. However, its always really bugged me that the three people stay exactly where they are, outside the park, in all 4 pictures, so I've taken the liberty of added a 5th, does this make sense?
We've been responding to the rapidly developing situation with #Covid_19 but I've tried to step back & map out the many areas where psychology & psychologists can contribute to coping with the pandemic. Here's my VERY rough 1st draft😳.
Pls add areas I've missed/elaborate & RT🙏
I'm delighted to say that our @BPSOfficial guidance on Meeting the Psychological Needs of People Recovering from Severe #COVIDー19 has been published & is available here: bps.org.uk/responding-cor….
Huge thanks to @dwadepsych & the expert development group + @ICUsteps for feedback🙏
Psychology lost one of its greats when Dr Albert Bandura died yesterday at the age of 95. Born in rural Canada to Polish & Ukrainian parents, he discovered psychology by accident at University but went on to become a giant in the field, Prof @Stanford & President of @APA. RIP

To anyone who thinks they wont catch Covid because they've already had it - I've just had a positive COVID test result today having previously had it back in April (thankfully only mild symtoms so far this time).
🚨STAY HOME TO SAVE LIVES 🚨
It is with deep regret that I have today resigned from the Board of Trustees of The British Psychological Society. Having served in BPS roles continuously for well over 20 years, & having always previously completed my terms of office, it is not a decision I took lightly.. 1/4
I've seen a lot of people expressing, surprise/concern/dismay that #Psychology is now the 2nd most popular subject #ALevel. As Vice-President of @BPSOfficial I admit I may not be represenative but I am PLEASED and PROUD😊. I'll explain why in this thread (1/4)
If you couldnt attend my talk yesterday on increasing diversity in Clinical Psychology (#DiversifyClinPsy) I'll try summarize it in 8 Tweets (it was quite long!)
1/8: People from BME backgrounds have been under-represented in CP training for years but NOT because they dont apply!
My thoughts & prayers are with all 38,000 people in the UK who are currently in hospital with Covid, their families, & all the NHS staff who are doing their utmost in such challenging circumstances. Thanks to them there is one less in hosp today, my mum is now back home safely 😊
To those angry about criminal damage to the statue of slave trader Edward Coulson in Bristol. It's worth considering how it must feel to have to walk past a monument to someone responsible for death & suffering of your ancestors & also your reaction to similar acts of damage #BLM
The NHS is facing a tsunami of new cases of Long Covid. Graph below (based on ONS data), shows that new cases in just March alone are estimated to be >315k. That's more than the combined number of new strokes, myocardial infarctions, RTA injuries & hip fractures in a whole year!
Congratulations to the 4 psychologists awarded New Years honours, Prof @sbaroncohen knighted for services to people with autism, Profs Francesca @HappeLab & Usha Goswami received CBE's for contribution to research & Prof Lorraine Sherr an MBE for services to Children & Families👏
