    Yesterday our community owned football club had to spend £300 opposing @LFC outrageous attempt to own the word 'Liverpool' in every football context and to protect ourselves. Today one of our members has replaced that money and more besides. This club la!

    We are delighted that LFC's trademark application has failed, which we believe is the correct decision. Our stated position is that no private business should own the name of any city in any context.

    Predictable response from LFC in the @LivEchonews which totally ignores the fact that Liverpool FC are not the only football club bearing the city's name, by all means protect what's yours, but the name Liverpool in a football context does not belong to you.

    An opportunity? Believe it or not we don't want the patronage of LFC or any other club. We are an independent football club. We don't want a permanent exemption. We want to own our own the name, the name of our City thank you very much.
