- Tonight in the Dáil is strange. Sinn Fein TDs making a series of stirring speeches on pensions and promising to make it 65 “if they were in government”, when it is 66 in Northern Ireland and due to increase to 67 and 68. And it is €53 less per week in Northern Ireland. Odd.
- I raised the issue of sexual education with Minister Norma Foley in the Dáil today. A new sexual & relationship curriculum needs to inform students about consent, mental health and respect for self.
00:00 - I think this is the first time @sinnfeinireland haven’t been here for a vote in the Dáil? It’s the annual motion to reaffirm the legislation to protect the state from terrorists and subversives and witness intimidation on the Special Criminal Court.
- With @columeastwood in Washington DC at the unveiling of the bust of the great John Hume as a permanent memorial to his steadfast commitment to civil rights and peace in Ireland.
- Observing the #Liveline discourse re. gender identity, two points: 1. I stand with LGBTQI+ people. Today, during Pride month, and every other day. 2. Gender neutral & inclusive language doesn’t diminish anyone else’s human rights. #equality #transrightsarehumanrights🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
- Why are @sinnfeinireland preaching one thing about Covid-19 restrictions and then practising something else? Does Mary Lou stand over this? The Executive Michelle O'Neill jointly leads still tells the public there should be no more than 10 people at a funeral. In April, she said "no one is exempt" from that funeral guidance. Today she's present with hundreds, many SF members, at top IRA man Bobby Storey's funeral.
- My letter this morning to Sinn Féin leader Deputy Mary Lou McDonald on the urgent need to publicly address child protection concerns in Sinn Féin.
- Essential reading from Stephen Collins. Sinn Fein is not a normal political party. Then or now.
- Heading in to Government buildings…😊
- There was a chapel in Holles Street too. Haven’t been there in a bit though. And a chaplain visited parents in the NICU in the NMH. Again, maybe that’s changed. There is/was a chapel in Crumlin Children’s hospital. Some people like it on hard days, even atheists like me.Thank you to the person who sent me these pictures taken an hour ago in the “fully secular” St Vincent’s Hospital Mass in hospital oratory ☑️ Mass on hospital TV ☑️ Blessed Sacrament exposed daily ☑️ Stations of the Cross ☑️ Core Values of Sisters of Charity posted on campus ☑️
- ???? Some kidnap and murder is better than other kidnap and murder ????On #SundayPolitics, @MarkCarruthers7 asks @MaryLouMcDonald for her view on 'murderous IRA criminality during the Troubles':
00:00 - Mass breach of restrictions at the height of Covid? Yep. Aware of it? Yep - you were all there. Did you investigate yourselves? Eh…… Come on now @PearseDoherty.
