If you’re an #Illini fan of a certain age, you take special joy in watching Bruce Pearl lose big games. And you never, ever, EVER wish him well. 😈 #IYKYK
Just received a summons for jury duty from the court on which I served as a trial judge for 14 years before moving to the Michigan Court of Appeals. I REALLY hope I get picked for a jury. It would be a fascinating experience. Hope I can get through peremptory challenges!
If you aspire to be an appellate judge, you should probably know that I’ve worked on Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday, and 12 hours on Monday. I’ll be here late tonight and on the bench for a long day tomorrow. At this rate, I might even make partner soon! 😬

After serving 14 years on a fantastic trial court, I am thrilled, humbled, and grateful to join the Michigan Court of Appeals. Dreams do come true.

I’m pretty certain that attorneys hate local rules almost as much as judges love them. They’re filled with traps for the unwary, largely because they reflect all the idiosyncratic wishes of the judges in each jurisdiction.

The world just lost one of its brightest and most beautiful lights this afternoon when my beloved mom passed away. Please pray for those of us who now must find a way to live without her. 😔 🙏 #RIP
I did my civic duty today, serving on a jury that returned a unanimous verdict. The voir dire was odd because the first lawyer to question me had no idea about my background and seemed startled to hear it. But being a juror on a panel that worked well together was so inspiring!
A whole bunch of @NBA GMs are going to look like chumps for passing on Ayo Dosunmu in the draft. Just read Billy Donovan’s comments. Ayo is going to be a key NBA guy for a long, long time! 😤

Heartwarming story about an attorney from small-town Michigan who was chosen by her client to argue before the United States Supreme Court and came through with flying colors. Reading this was a nice start to Thanksgiving.
