While discrete supercells are traditionally thought to be most hazardous, we find that the parent supercells of intense tornadoes are often accompanied by cells in their rear flanks. Hail-producing supercells are often near boundaries, especially on their colder sides. #AMS2025

WoFSCast is the first AI system trained and developed to emulate a sub-hourly convection-allowing weather model (CAM). WoFSCast speeds up forecast generation versus WoFS by at least a factor of ten, from minutes to seconds. #AMS2025

WoFS-Smoke preliminary results show potential for significant improvements in wildfire smoke forecasts. Results from recent high-impact wildfires will be presented along with plans for continued evolution and application of WoFS-Smoke.
In 2023 @NOAANSSL & @CIWRO_ operated the Advanced Technology Demonstrator to explore benefits of dual-pol phased array radar (PAR). In total, 57 datasets were collected. They show how PAR provides more complete coverage in the vertical in addition to more rapid updates. #AMS2024
