    Thanks @WalesObsHrcyp @Swansea_Law. Brilliant #WorldChildrensDay 2024 event. It’s humbling to be with human rights heroes & meet new ones, in person & online. Children’s rights really are a rainbow 🌈 against the dark cloud 🌩️ of our uncertain world🌎.

    Just saw a young person notice that a homeless person outside Glasgow Queen St Station didn't have a hat... promptly took off their own hat & scarf and gave them to him. #YOYP2018 #Hogmanay

    Some very strange examples of “co-production” being discussed at the moment. If you have very limited involvement of young people and then ignore their views, you can’t call it co-production just because they were in the room.

    Incorporation of 🇺🇳 Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most important thing we can do to protect children’s human rights. Amazing to hear @scotgov announce the legislation which will take a maximalist approach. Huge credit to all #HumanRightsDefenders who fought for it!

    1. Today the @ScotParl considers Stage 3 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. If passed, following Royal Assent, it will come into force later this year! #UNCRCScotland

    40 years ago today my brother Michael died of a brain tumour, age 5. Grief of losing him had profound impact on our family. I still miss him every day. In the midst of the current pandemic my heart goes out to all those grieving and my thanks goes out to all those supporting them

    I arrived in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 20 years ago today. I didn’t know a single Scottish person, I didn’t know any Europeans at all. It’s impossible to put into words how grateful I am for the kindness, love & welcome I’ve received as I’ve made Scotland and Europe my home. Thank you!

    Poverty severely affects all aspects of a child’s life, impacting on their human rights to life and development, to adequate standard of living, to mental & physical health, education, to socialise and participate in society. Allowing poverty to continue is a political choice.

    Children have made huge sacrifices over the last few months. Those sacrifices have meant that from today younger children can start to reconnect with friends & wider family (outside) without physical distancing. This is essential for children’s development - hugs really matter ♥️

    Outdoors only, children 11 or under no longer need to physically distance from other children/adults. For those asking, yes that does mean they can hug gran/grandad (but not if the adult is shielding). Adults must distance from each other & stick to rules on size of gatherings

    My role @CYPCS is to hold @scotgov to account, but it is also to promote good practice. Young people's minister @MareeToddMSP home baked treats, packed them with love, & sent to care experienced young people at @whocaresscot summer camp. Brilliant #happiness #love #understanding
