- Sadly, my father passed away suddenly Sunday. I probably wouldn't post this here, but my Dad was literally my biggest fan. He'd watch every broadcast he could and text me exactly what I was saying. My mom said she had to "put out a towel" to stop his drooling. Love you, Dad.
- Reminder weather balloon data gets directly fed into computer models. Less balloons = less data = less forecast model accuracy. And, of course, fewer NWS meteorologists = fewer eyes on the weather. A sad day for American and global meteorology.Here we go. Weather models and services could be impacted by the firing of NWS/NOAA meteorologists that started today. Effective immediately and until further notice, the National Weather Service (NWS) is indefinitely suspending weather balloon launches at Kotzebue, Alaska
