The Dignity Circle by Lauren Smerkanich

Our most recent mainstage production was brought to us by a favorite artist over here at NOTE, Lauren Smerkanich.

We want to thank our amazing patrons for coming out to support our exploration into women friendships, cardboard, Sacramento, pyramid schemes and crumbles vs. cakes.

We also want to thank our fantastic production team for bringing this circle to life. You are all Mega-Queens.

The Return of NOTEworthy!!!

April of 2025 saw the return of one of NOTE’s most popular programs. NOTEworthy!

NOTEworthy is Theatre of NOTE’s script development program, established to foster relationships with playwrights as they develop new works (with the hopes of producing these pieces on our stage).

On August 26th, NOTEworthy presented My Brother’s Keeper by Abel Marquez.

NOTEworthy presented a FREE staged reading and talkback of “My Brother’s Keeper”.
Abel explores his grief over the passing for David, his devoutly religious, gay brother, and mourning everything about his life he didn’t get to know. He discovers David’s truth through his journal that is left behind, along with letters from his lover Jono.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next NOTEworthy!

Each year, five writers from five high schools are chosen to participate in a workshop-based writing experiment that culminates in the staged production of five short plays, one play representing each school.

This year’s YWP performance dates were
May 10, 11, 17, 18 @ 2pm.
Tickets are always by donation only – both cash and card will be accepted at the door. We hope you join us in supporting these young artists!
