Equivalent Exponents

Directions: Using the digits 1 to 9, at most one time each, place a digit in each box to make a true in equality and a true equation.

An extension is to do so while leaving the greatest or smallest number unused.

Hint

What does an exponent mean?
What two exponents could be used for the equivalence?
What bases are possible?

Answer

8^2=4^3 or base 2 and 4 with exponents 6 and 3 or base 3 and 9 with exponents 2, 1 or 4, 2 or 8, 4… possibly other answers as well.
