Health conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), cerebral palsy, Lyme Disease, Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and many more will be discussed over the course of the conference. The Medical Academy of Pediatrics and Special Needs exists because autistic and medically complex individuals have been underserved for far too long by systems that too often fail to address their underlying medical needs.
MAPS is a national physician education organization dedicated to improving care across the lifespan through comprehensive, evidence-informed evaluation of the medical comorbidities that commonly accompany autism, including gastrointestinal, immune, neurologic, and metabolic challenges.
Families come to MAPS because they have been left without answers elsewhere — and because their children deserve more than dismissal, delay, or superficial care.
Our work is grounded in clinical rigor, physician training, and measurable outcomes, not ideology or rhetoric.
Too often, coverage in this space is driven by sensationalism rather than a serious effort to understand the medical complexity families face.
MAPS will not be distracted by caricatures or controversy. We will remain focused on what matters: expanding the trained medical workforce, advancing responsible research, and ensuring that no individual with special needs is left without appropriate medical support.
Well-known special needs physicians from around the world will attend the MAPS 2024 CME conference, in order to share their knowledge and experiences with the larger pediatric community
Through our newsfeed and blog, learn about the latest events and developments that could affect the pediatric special needs community, including special needs doctors, patients, as well as the parents and caregivers of special needs children

Healthy cells are the foundation of a healthy body. Every organ, tissue, and system relies on well-functioning cells to produce energy, support immunity, eliminate waste, and carry out repair. When cells are nourished and protected, the body is better equipped to maintain balance, recover from stress, and resist disease, including complex conditions like neurodegenerative disorders...
The MAPS continuing medical education (CME) conference is organized for the purpose of providing pediatricians and healthcare workers with the skills and knowledge they need to offer world-class medical care to special needs patients.
MAPS is dedicated to improving the lives of every individual in our community, by way of educating any and all professionals dealing with our delicate population. We encourage all parents and caregivers of special needs children to visit our Parent Resource page, and to invite their child's practitioner to attend a MAPS conference. Our goal is to reach even more professionals, to offer them training that can in turn support families in greater abundance.
