Nonspeakers with autism or apraxia are being denied critical access to communication, endangering their health, safety and wellbeing.

Communication is a Human Right: My Voice, My Choice, Powered byy Communication 4 ALL & SPELLERS (logo)

We’re coming together – with love, urgency, and purpose – to make sure every voice is heard.

Uplift nonspeakers with us and SPELLERS Freedom Foundation this Autism Action April and beyond!

As many as 40% of people with Autism are nonspeaking – more than 30 million people worldwide.

Yet only a small fraction of nonspeakers have been taught how to communicate.

Our Mission

To ensure all nonspeakers have access to communication and education.

What we do

C4A Schools logo

Communication 4 ALL partners with innovative public and private schools to offer typing programs for nonspeakers. By creating beacons in the educational system, we seek to demonstrate how nonspeaking students can learn to type and succeed in mainstream schools. These pilot typing programs are showing the way. If you know a school that could benefit, please contact us.

C4A Academy logo

C4A Academy is our global initiative for families to teach typing to anyone in the world via the internet free of charge. Through video-based lessons, we break down the process step-by-step. Expert coaches will be available as communication partners learn how to coach their nonspeaking family members to overcome their motor challenges and learn to type.

Regulation 4 ALL

C4A launched Regulation 4 ALL because regulation is essential for a happy, productive life. Elizabeth understands its importance from her own experience living with severe dysregulation. She worked with a researcher for 2 years monitoring her heart rate variability (HRV) while using natural interventions to get her out of fight-or-flight to safe mode. That is what Elizabeth wants for all who suffer with dysregulation. The C4A team is building on Elizabeth’s experiment and a research study conducted with Dr. Elizabeth Torres at Rutgers University to create tools for families to monitor and improve regulation.

C4A Academy Impact

C4A Academy is our program of instructional videos, case studies, lessons, and resources to teach nonspeakers how to type, free of charge.

Elizabeth Bonker, C4A Founder & Executive Director

C4A grew out of the experiences of our executive director Elizabeth Bonker, who is affected by Autism and types to communicate. A poet, lyricist, and co-author of I Am In Here, Elizabeth has been advocating for the rights of individuals with Autism for more than a decade. In May 2022, Elizabeth graduated from Rollins College, and her valedictorian commencement address went viral with 4 billion media impressions worldwide, propelling her mission. Today, Elizabeth presents at major events around the world and works for systemic change for nonspeakers.

Stories shape our world. Below see how Elizabeth is using diverse media—and the power of creative self-expression—to share her story, nurture awareness, and inspire action.
