Application Process
Individuals who want to become a Local 1253 apprentice must follow the application process, which includes:
- Creating a TradeSchool account
- Completing the online application
- Provide all required documentation
- Receive a qualifying score on the ETA Aptitude Test Battery (administered in-person)
- Attend an in-person, oral interview
Apprenticeship Qualifications
An individual who completes the apprenticeship application and can show that they meet the conditions listed below will be given an oral interview by the JATC.
If interviewed, the applicant will be listed among those qualified for selection for two calendar years from the date of the interview.
To be interviewed, the applicant must:
- Be a minimum of 17 years of age (present a copy of your birth certificate)
- Be at least a high school graduate, have a GED or have a two-year associate’s degree or higher (present a copy of diploma or GED)
- Show evidence of successful completion of: One full year of high school algebra with a passing grade or one post-high school algebra course with a passing grade
- Provide an official transcript for high school and post-high school education and training. All GED records must be submitted, if applicable
- Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience
- Qualify for the interview by taking the electrical trade’s aptitude test
- Present a valid driver’s license
- Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of those interviewed must be at least 18 years of age
- Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of applicants may be required to provide results of a physical examination and a drug test, as decided by the JATC
- Present a resume or work history
- Have a computer, laptop or tablet and internet access
