OUR STORY
What Sets Us Apart
The Connecticut State Soccer Association (CSSA) is a volunteer-led organization that has supported adult amateur soccer in Connecticut for over a century. Founded in 1913 and incorporated in 1993, CSSA serves as the governing body for adult soccer across the state.
CSSA and its affiliated leagues, clubs, and teams are members of U.S. Soccer (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). Through these affiliations, CSSA operates under nationally and internationally recognized standards, ensuring the game is played with consistency, fairness, and integrity.
CSSA provides competitive opportunities at every level of adult soccer. Member teams are eligible to compete in USASA and U.S. Soccer–sanctioned tournaments, including pathways to regional and national cup competitions. At the state level, CSSA also sponsors its own cup competitions, including Men’s Over-30 and Over-40 State Cups.
In addition to competition oversight, CSSA supports the development of referees through the Connecticut State Referee Program (CSRP). The program offers training, clinics, and assessments for referees at all stages, helping ensure matches are officiated by qualified, knowledgeable professionals who uphold the standards of the game.
At its core, CSSA exists to promote access to play, support fair competition, and strengthen the adult soccer community throughout Connecticut.
