Some tribal cultures use "pain rituals" to create visions and connect with Divinity. Some believe that pain cleanses your sins and shows your devotion by withstanding it .At times achieving an altered state of consciousness linked to religious states of "enlightening". The combination of endorphins, adrenaline and the ritual included can be somewhat parallel to other religious practices and their beliefs.

                     I believe that the intense experiences one achieves in BDSM can be illuminating and enlightening. Akin to what one goes through vision quests, out of body experiences, and periods of intense stress to body/mind.

                 I choose to blindfold the bottom as part of a ritual for all scenes that I do.I think instead of sensory deprivation it’s sensory enhancement. When I bottomed I found that my senses came alive, I was aware of every little touch, smell and sound.I know the sub hears and smells everything that happens in  and out the room (as I did).So I employ certain smells as part of the ritual.I make sure my every sound is heard some exaggerated so that the sub has an image in her head as to what she thinks is going on .I live for "sensation play" ,
