A Chicago-based sports technology startup partnered with us to build an advanced head impact monitoring solution designed to improve athlete safety and support medical decision-making in youth sports. The solution focuses on detecting potential concussion risks in real time by combining wearable sensor technology with intelligent mobile applications. By delivering instant injury insights to coaches, parents, and healthcare professionals, the platform helps create safer sporting environments while enabling faster and more informed responses to head injuries.

We developed native mobile applications that seamlessly integrate with compact helmet-mounted wearable sensors capable of detecting head impacts using accelerometer and gyroscope technology. Our solution enables real-time communication between the sensor and mobile devices, ensuring immediate detection and reporting of potential injury events.
We built a dedicated coach-facing mobile application that receives instant Bluetooth alerts whenever an impact is detected. This allows coaches to quickly assess situations on the field and take timely action to protect athletes from further harm during gameplay or practice sessions.
In addition, we created a second mobile experience for parents and athletes that provides visibility into impact history, concussion risk indicators, and ongoing health tracking. The platform empowers families with educational insights and transparent access to athlete safety data, strengthening trust and awareness around injury prevention.
We developed native iOS and Android applications using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication supported by a custom protocol to ensure stable and accurate connectivity with helmet sensors. Our approach focused on delivering reliable real-time data transfer while maintaining low power consumption for wearable devices.
We implemented seamless cloud synchronization to store impact data securely and make it accessible through a centralized dashboard. Automated reporting features were integrated to send detailed impact reports via email to designated contacts, ensuring immediate communication among coaches, parents, and medical staff.
