Donation
Acceptance Policy
The trustees of Antei-ji Zen Temple have established a formal Donation Acceptance Policy to safeguard the charity’s integrity and funds.
For routine public donations and regular giving, we will actively encourage donors to complete a Gift Aid declaration (when our charity status is finalised) . This process requires the collection of the donor’s full name, home address, and UK tax status, providing a reliable baseline for donor identification and verification in line with HMRC guidelines.
For high value or unusual donations, the trustees have set a strict verification threshold. Any single or cumulative donation from an unfamiliar source exceeding £10,000 will trigger a formal review by the trustees. In these instances, we will verify the donor’s identity using official photographic identification and proof of address, alongside basic due diligence regarding the source of the funds to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering principles.
Regarding conditional donations, the trustees retain ultimate authority over acceptance. Any donation carrying specific conditions or restrictions must be formally reviewed at a trustees’ meeting. We will reject any donation if the attached conditions conflict with our charitable objects, compromise the temple’s independence, or impose inappropriate financial obligations on the CIO. All accepted restricted donations will be tracked separately in our financial records to ensure they are spent strictly in accordance with the agreed terms.
