Preparing my site for the changeover to a block theme and possibly a change of focus is an intensive effort (with much coffee!). Rereading and editing posts (Wait! Where did those Classic Blocks come from!? Block Encountered Unexpected Errors! Pullquotes Deprecated!) along with seeing what content resonates with readers made it very clear to me that this is a good time to archive a lot of previous material on this site.
(As an aside, it was also fun to rewind and see our CBBQTT’s (AKA Matt M.) State of the Word from 2012.)
One of the realities of writing about the perpetual roller coaster ride that is the WordPress.com platform is that over time post content becomes outdated or irrelevant to the current version. This can cause confusion. Rather than deleting these posts, creating dozens of broken links and “404-Page Not Found” errors, they have been added to the “Archived” category.
How can you recognize an Archived Post?
Besides the Archived Category label, Archived posts do not have a featured image and you’ll also see a note “This is a Historical Post” at the end of the post. Lastly, commenting is disabled on Archived Posts with the exception of this one.
Maybe some of those Archived posts will be revived, but for now, the information serves as a historical record of what the WordPress.com platform was like back when the post was first published.
On the other hand, if a post has had a significant update, or is in the process of being updated, you’ll see that mentioned at the top of the post.
Shortly after publication of this post my site will go “offline” temporarily while other changes happen behind the scene. As a result, you won’t receive new post notifications either by email or in the Reader until the site comes back online.
Hope to see you on the other side. 🤞

Kvetch or Kvell, it's all good!
