    Hi again,

This may be outside the scope of support but I’m not sure where to ask. I started the process of asking clients to demote me from “owner” to “full” permissions on their Search Console accounts, starting the process with just one client to see how it goes.

First, they reported that they were unable to change me to “full”, the only option they had was to delete me. So I asked them to delete me, then add me back as “full”, and they tried that, but when they added me back, the only option they could choose from was again “owner” – full wasn’t an option! So I’m not sure how to extricate myself from all of these accounts?

    Thanks!

Thank you for the quick info.

I’m fine with my clients setting up the accounts, but it’s normally easier and more convenient for them if I set them up and then share access with them, versus the other way around. Having to redo 80+ sites is a tall order. Can I transfer the accounts to them and make them “owner” without having to start over, and losing our historical data?

I was also under the impression that the 100 limit applied regardless of whether I owned the account or not – that it applied to any Analytics account I had User access to?

And this is related to Analytics, but what about Search Console? It’s logging me out of all Google services, not just one of the other.

At 97, I know that’s a lot, lol – but I am technically under the limit – so why would it be logging me out now, before I reach 100?

It is happening to sites I don’t have Wordence on, too.

    Thanks!

Hi – thanks for your quick reply!

    1. When I go to “Manage Sites” it says “Total connected sites: 97“. I sure wish there was a way to bump the number allowed up a bit, it would be so much more convenient for people in my profession than having to have different logins.
    2. I don’t think I’m logged out of them all at once, but honestly I log in and out of various sites so many times over the course of a week, that I am not sure if I’d notice. So today I decided to track 4 sites. I was logged out of Site Kit on all of them when I first logged into each today (despite having logged in to all of them earlier in the week). I re-logged into all 4 and wrote down the date and time. Note that I am using a security plugin on 2 of sites, and not on the other 2 sites.
    3. On the sites that have security plugins, I’m only using Wordfence. (one free, one premium, each with their own individual license).

One more question – even when Site Kit logs me out, it’s still tracking, right? Like, it’s not removing my Google Analytics code when I’m kicked out, is it?

    Hi Oliver,

I sent my info to the plugin developer by email and they followed up with me and offered good support. But as it turns out, I gave up on restricting the key, beccause I found this out and sent them this:

I read that restricting the API Key may not be necessary if you restrict the key for only the Google Calendar API, and then set quotas to prevent abuse.  So I just set really low quotas and it seems to be working. Will that be okay, or should I pursue it further?

    And they responded:

In this case, yes, you can implement custom usage and spend limits in your account settings to act as a safeguard against unexpected usage due to leaked keys or errant scripts. Also, regular key rotation would be fine as well.

So I just did that and let it be. Not sure if this helps or not. Good luck!

    wigglepit

    (@wigglepit)

Same question – Patchstack says it’s been fixed in versions 1.75 or later, but Flywheel is still flagging it. Is 1.75 safe?

    Thread Starter wigglepit

    (@wigglepit)

Thanks for checking, I appereciate it!

I think we’re all good. I was able to easily reconnect after reinstalling.

If it helps, I reinstalled from within the dashboard (not manually thrrough FTP). I worried that would trigger the error again but it didn’t. I did do them one at a time, though – not bulk.

All seem to be working well and errors are missing. Thanks again!

    Thread Starter wigglepit

    (@wigglepit)

Wow – thanks for the super quick reply! I sent my info via the form.

2 – Yes, all hosted on same platform, sent that info via your form. Yes, using common plugins and themes, though it happened across some sites that had different themes and plugins, they weren’t all identical. Not using CoCo Basic plugins or themes that I’m aware of?

3- Bulk updated. Normally do that because I have so many sites, it would take too long to update individually. Not every site broke, only some of them. I renamed the directory to bring the sites back online. Then I logged in and deleted the old SiteKit plugin. I am now reinstsalling the plugin from scratch on those sites and so far, it is working.

    Thanks!

Edited to add that I got this error when turning on Debug from one of the sites:

Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the cocobasic-shortcode domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6121

Update: Was able to reinstall Site Kit on all sites and re-setup, all are working again.
