Grief is the internal struggle and feelings we have when important relationships or interactions end. Mourning is the outward expression of this struggle. When we feel grief (feelings on the inside), those feelings need opportunities to mourn (outwardly express grief ). Inspired by Biblical figures and stories, this resource series is intended to help you try out ways to outwardly express your inner feelings.
When supporting someone who is grieving, well-meaning platitudes like “Everything happens for a reason” or “They’re in a better place” can unintentionally cause harm. Our “Have You Heard…?” resources help caregivers understand why such statements may feel dismissive and offer faith-informed, compassionate alternatives. Drawing on theological truths and mental health principles, they provide practical guidance for offering comfort that validates pain, encourages open expression, and fosters healing.
