Ensuring Dignity in Life’s Final Chapter

We are a global federation advocating for the fundamental human right to die with dignity, autonomy, and compassion.

A world where every person has the right to die with dignity, peacefully and without suffering.

Death is unavoidable. There is an increasing belief across the world that people should be able to choose the timing and manner of their death, we want to ensure that everyone has the right to die with dignity, peacefully and without suffering.

Our member societies work around the world to promote this message.

A Message from our President

Asuncion Alvarez
President, World Federation Right to Die Societies

The World Federation of Right to Die Societies a global movement

The WFRtDS is the only global network of right to die societies working together to promote the right to a safe and peaceful death for every citizen of the world who needs it.

The Federation meets biennially

Every two years our world-wide community comes together to spend a few days together to share our experiences, celebrate advances and advance our knowledge about all things related to voluntary assisted dying. Our next global gathering will be at the end of November 2026 in Tokyo

The Federation is proud to have affiliated members across the world.

Defending rights wherever they are attacked

Even after laws are passed, those who oppose assisted dying continue to work to have them repealed. Often using false facts and half truths. A lot of our work is taken up defending hard won laws and pushing back against these attacks on peoples rights.

Our members societies work worldwide to raise awareness of voluntary assisted dying

Around 350 million people around the world are fortunate in having some form of right to die legislation to call upon if their personal situation requires it.

However, the fight continues to extend that right to everyone else. With more than 30 years of reliable data available which underlines the safety and efficacy of voluntary assisted dying, the Federation works with local organisations to support activists, educate parliamentarians and provide expert knowledge wherever it is needed.
