About
WEX Foundation was founded to advance middle and high school education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects by integrating space exploration technology with project-based learning to create a robust space technology workforce that will enable people to live on other planets.
As a ‘NASA Informal Education Community Anchor,’ WEX Foundation serves as a local and regional community resource that addresses identified community needs related to SPACE STEM engagement, and shares knowledge of NASA STEM Engagement learning resources and opportunities that can help meet those needs.
Our Mission

The WEX Foundation is named in honor of Judge Waldo E. Ximenes, an unwavering proponent of educational opportunity for the disenfranchised.
The WEX Foundation (WEX) was established to promote, encourage, and support the convergence of Space STEM education as applied to new visions of human space exploration, beginning with K-12 grade education and curriculum development. Its focus is to improve STEM teaching and student comprehension in areas where students have been traditionally under-served and under-represented (with special emphasis on female and Hispanic students in low-income school districts), and to prepare and encourage low-income, first-generation college students to pursue higher education and careers in human space exploration.
WEX’s Vision is to foster an education path for historically under-represented constituents into the aerospace community through project-based curriculum using the latest information available in space science and space exploration. Our goal is to provide all students with the latest information on the advancement in topics such as the universe, manned and unmanned space exploration, spaceflight, space vehicles, launch systems, space operations, space missions, as well as the history of astronomy and the study of the Earth, the Sun, the Moon, the Solar System, and the terrestrial and outer planets.
The foundation will serve diverse populations in fulfilling its purposes, and participate in activities reasonably necessary to carry out such purposes.

The WEX Foundation is named in honor of Judge Waldo E. Ximenes, an unwavering proponent of educational opportunity for the disenfranchised.
Team
It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to make sure our mission is reaching out to as many constituent communities as it can so students everywhere have opportunities to discover their potential as space explorers. We’re fortunate to have some of the best dedicating their time, energy, and expertise to our cause.
