FAQ

About WebDesk Solution

WebDesk Solution is a North American full-service digital and AI agency with offices in New York (Great Neck) and Toronto. We build, migrate, and scale eCommerce on Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, and headless platforms, and we develop AI voice agents, chatbots, and automation systems on Claude, OpenAI, and custom LLMs. Typical engagements run 6 to 16 weeks, depending on scope. Below are answers to the questions most buyers ask before booking a strategy call.

What is WebDesk Solution?

WebDesk Solution is a North American digital and AI agency that builds, migrates, and scales eCommerce platforms, custom web applications, and AI systems for B2B, DTC, and enterprise clients. We work across Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, headless architectures, and custom AI deployments on Claude and OpenAI. We’ve been in operation since 2011 and have shipped 500+ projects from our offices in New York and Toronto.

How long has WebDesk Solution been in business?

WebDesk Solution has been in business for 14+ years, founded in 2011. Across that span, we’ve shipped 500+ projects, expanded from a US-only operation to North American coverage with a Toronto office, and built out specialized teams for eCommerce, custom web development, and AI services. We’ve worked through three major platform shifts (Shopify launch, Magento 2 migration, headless commerce adoption) and the current AI/LLM wave.

Where is WebDesk Solution located?

WebDesk Solution operates from two North American offices: our New York office at 98 Cutter Mill Rd, Suite 466, Great Neck, NY 11021, and our Toronto office at 150 King Street West, Suite 200, Toronto, ON M5H 1J9. Both offices serve clients across the United States and Canada. US contact: 877-536-3789. Canadian contact: 647-547-2249.

Does WebDesk Solution work with clients in the US and Canada?

Yes – we serve clients across both the United States and Canada from our New York and Toronto offices. Most US clients are routed through our New York team; Canadian clients (and cross-border B2B with Canadian compliance needs like PIPEDA) are typically supported from our Toronto office. Time-zone coverage spans Eastern and Pacific business hours, and we adjust delivery hours for clients in Central, Mountain, and Atlantic time zones.

What industries does WebDesk Solution specialize in?

We work most heavily in B2B and B2C eCommerce (apparel, jewelry, automotive parts, industrial supply, pet products), service businesses (healthcare, home services, professional services), and venture-backed startups building AI products. Our deepest verticals are automotive parts, jewelry, industrial B2B, and AI-powered platforms – but the engagement pattern is what we specialize in: complex platform builds, migrations, and AI integrations, regardless of vertical.

How many projects has WebDesk Solution completed?

WebDesk Solution has shipped 500+ projects in 14+ years. The portfolio spans eCommerce migrations, custom platform builds, B2B portals, AI voice agents, AI chatbots, and ongoing managed-services engagements. Our full case study library covers 100+ named projects with documented outcomes – see our case studies for the verified list with named clients and measurable results.

What makes WebDesk Solution different from other agencies?

Three things, mostly: First, we own the full delivery surface – design, custom development, platform-specialist teams, AI engineering, and post-launch managed services – so handoffs between disciplines stay inside one team. Second, we publish 100+ named case studies with measurable outcomes (PartsConnexion 92% CVR uplift, Generation Pet zero-downtime B2B migration, AI Sports Injury platform modernization) – not vague “we helped a client” claims. Third, we hold active platform-partner credentials on Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, Klaviyo, Make.com, and Google.

Engagement & Process

Buyers usually want to know how the relationship starts before they care about anything else. Below are the four questions we hear most often about engaging WebDesk Solution.

How does a typical engagement with WebDesk Solution start?

Every engagement starts with a 20-minute strategy call where we listen to your goals, current platform, timeline, and budget – no obligation, no pitch deck. If the fit is right, we move into a paid discovery sprint that produces a written scope, fixed-price quote, and timeline. Discovery typically runs one to two weeks. Build kicks off only after you sign the scope.

What does the WebDesk discovery process look like?

Discovery is a one- to two-week paid sprint where we audit the existing site (if applicable), map the technical requirements, identify integration risks, and produce three deliverables: a written scope, a fixed-price quote, and a week-by-week timeline. You leave discovery with everything you need to compare us against another agency – even if you choose not to continue with WebDesk. See our project process for the full breakdown.

How long does it take to build an eCommerce website with WebDesk?

Most eCommerce builds run 6 to 16 weeks: a basic Shopify store with a stock theme can launch in 6 to 8 weeks; a Shopify Plus or BigCommerce build with custom features, ERP integration, and migration data work typically runs 10 to 16 weeks; enterprise Adobe Commerce engagements can run longer. Timeline is locked in discovery and tracked weekly through delivery.

Can WebDesk take over a project started by another developer?

Yes – and we do this often. We start with a code audit and platform health check to surface technical debt, security risks, and broken integrations. From there, we produce a stabilization plan and a recovery scope, then either fix-and-continue or rebuild specific modules. Recent example: we recovered a stalled BigCommerce build and stabilized it for ongoing growth. See our eCommerce system recovery case study for the full story.

Pricing & Payment

Pricing depends heavily on platform, scope, and integration count – but the questions buyers ask have answerable ranges. Here are the most common cost questions, with the numbers we see across recent engagements.

How much does a Shopify Plus build or migration cost?

A typical Shopify Plus migration or custom build runs $35,000 to $120,000 and 8 to 12 weeks, depending on catalog size, integration count, and design scope. Smaller storefront redesigns at the lower end; enterprise migrations with custom apps, ERP integration, and wholesale workflows at the upper end. As a Shopify Plus Partner, we anchor every quote to a specific scope produced in discovery – no open-ended hourly billing.

Example:Braidan Motorsport – Shopify Plus redesign with wholesale pricing controls and quote workflow. Read the Braidan Motorsport case study.
How much does a basic Shopify store cost to set up?

A basic Shopify store on a stock theme – without heavy customization, ERP integration, or migration work – typically costs $5,000 to $15,000 and launches in 4 to 8 weeks. That covers theme setup, product import, payment gateway configuration, shipping rules, and basic SEO. Custom theme development, complex catalog logic, or third-party app integrations push the cost up; the exact number is set in discovery.

How much does an Adobe Commerce / Magento development project cost?

Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento) projects typically run $40,000 to $250,000+ and 12 to 24+ weeks. The range is wide because Adobe Commerce buyers are usually enterprise – B2B portals, multi-store catalogs, ERP integration, and heavy customization. Smaller migrations from Magento 1 to Magento 2 sit at the lower end; full enterprise re-platforms with Hyvä frontend, custom checkout, and SAP integration sit at the upper end. For a deeper cost breakdown, see our Magento 2 migration cost guide.

How much does an AI chatbot or AI voice agent project cost?

AI chatbot projects start at $8,000 to $25,000 for production-ready deployments on common stacks (OpenAI, Claude, custom-trained models) with single-channel integration. AI voice agent development typically runs $15,000 to $60,000 because of telephony integration, voice synthesis cost, and conversation design. Enterprise deployments with multi-channel routing, CRM sync, and custom LLM fine-tuning run higher and are quoted in discovery.

What payment methods do you accept, and can payments be split into installments?

We accept credit cards, ACH and wire transfers, and checks. Most projects above $20,000 are split into 2 to 4 installments tied to delivery milestones (kickoff, mid-build, UAT, launch). The first milestone payment is required before development starts. Refund and cancellation terms are spelled out in the signed scope – see our refund / cancellation policy for full details.

Platforms, Technology & Partnerships

Most buyers want to know whether we work on their platform – and whether we hold the partner-level credentials that signal real platform depth. This cluster covers the platforms we specialize in, the migrations we run, our partner tiers, and the technology stacks behind it all.

Which eCommerce platforms does WebDesk specialize in?

We specialize in Shopify and Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento), BigCommerce, PrestaShop, Shift4Shop, WooCommerce, CS-Cart, Shopware, and Volusion. We hold partner credentials on the platforms where partner tiers exist (Shopify Plus Partner, Adobe Commerce Solution Partner). Each platform has a dedicated team – we don’t deploy generalists onto specific platforms. See the full list of eCommerce platforms we support.

How does a Magento to Shopify migration work?

A Magento-to-Shopify migration runs in four phases: discovery and data mapping (1-2 weeks), parallel-environment setup with content and product migration (2-4 weeks), redirect mapping and SEO preservation (1 week), then cutover with monitored go-live (1 week). We preserve URL structure where possible and 301-redirect what changes, so organic traffic recovers within 30-60 days. See our eCommerce migration services for the full process.

Do you handle BigCommerce to Shopify and WooCommerce to Shopify migrations?

Yes – both are common engagements. BigCommerce-to-Shopify migrations typically focus on catalog mapping, customer data transfer, and theme rebuild. WooCommerce-to-Shopify is more involved because WooCommerce’s variable-product structure and WordPress integrations need to be re-engineered. Both run 6 to 12 weeks. Reverse migrations (Shopify to BigCommerce for B2B-heavy use cases) follow a similar process – see Generation Pet’s Shopify to BigCommerce B2B migration with ERP integration.

Has WebDesk Solution worked on large enterprise migration projects?

Yes – we’ve shipped enterprise migrations across all major platforms. Recent examples include Generation Pet’s Shopify → BigCommerce B2B migration with real-time ERP integration, PartsConnexion’s BigCommerce migration that lifted conversion 92%, Compressor World’s Magento 1 → Magento 2 migration, and PacknWood’s Webjaguar → BigCommerce B2B re-platform. Enterprise migrations typically include parallel environments, data mapping, SEO preservation, and zero-downtime cutover planning.

Do you build headless or composable commerce architectures?

Yes – headless and composable commerce are two of our most-requested service patterns. Common stacks: headless WordPress + BigCommerce backend; Shopify Plus with a custom Next.js or Remix frontend; Adobe Commerce with Hyvä frontend; BigCommerce with React Native mobile apps. The decision between monolithic and headless depends on traffic, team capacity, and personalization needs – we walk through the tradeoffs in discovery.

Is WebDesk Solution a Shopify Plus Partner and Adobe Commerce Solution Partner?

Yes – WebDesk Solution holds active partner credentials on Shopify Plus (Shopify Plus Partner) and Adobe Commerce (Adobe Commerce Solution Partner). We also carry partner relationships with Klaviyo, Make.com, and Google. Partner tier is not a marketing badge – it means we’ve passed platform-specific certifications, maintain dedicated specialist teams, and have access to platform support channels and roadmap insight that non-partner agencies don’t.

Does WebDesk Solution have certified platform specialists?

Yes – every major platform we work on has dedicated specialists, not generalists. Our Shopify team is certified through the Shopify Plus Partner program; our Adobe Commerce team works under Adobe’s Solution Partner credentialing; our AI engineering team has shipped production deployments on Claude and OpenAI. We hire and structure teams by platform vertical, so the engineer building your Shopify Plus store has done dozens of them – not a few.

What technologies does WebDesk Solution work with?

Frontend: React, Vue, Next.js, Remix, Liquid (Shopify), Hyvä (Adobe Commerce), Stencil (BigCommerce), HTML/CSS/JavaScript. Backend: PHP, Laravel, Node.js, Python, Ruby on Rails. Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis. AI: Claude, OpenAI, custom fine-tuned models, Make.com, n8n. Hosting and cloud: AWS, DigitalOcean, WP Engine, Nexcess, Heroku. We pick the stack to fit the platform and the team that will maintain it after launch.

AI Services

AI is the fastest-growing part of our work – voice agents, chatbots, custom LLM integrations, and automation. The questions below cover the most common AI buyer queries.

What kinds of AI projects does WebDesk build?

We build four categories of AI projects: AI voice agents (inbound and outbound telephony with conversation design), AI chatbots (web and messenger channel deployments), custom LLM integrations (Claude, OpenAI, and fine-tuned models embedded into existing platforms), and AI automation workflows (Make.com-based or custom systems for operations, lead routing, and content). Recent example: an AI-based sports injury intelligence platform we modernized using OpenAI and Node/React.

Does WebDesk Solution build AI voice agents?

Yes – AI voice agents are one of our specialist AI services. We build inbound and outbound voice agents that hold natural conversations, qualify leads, schedule meetings, route calls, and handle support. Voice agents are technically harder than chatbots because of telephony integration, latency requirements, and conversation design under audio constraints. Typical build runs $15,000 to $60,000. See AI voice agent development for the full service.

Does WebDesk build AI chatbots for eCommerce and service businesses?

Yes – we build AI chatbots for both eCommerce (product discovery, support deflection, checkout assistance, post-purchase) and service businesses (lead qualification, appointment booking, FAQ deflection, after-hours coverage). Common deployments are on websites, Instagram/Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and SMS. Chatbots typically integrate with the underlying CRM, eCommerce platform, or ticketing system. Builds start at $8,000-$25,000 depending on integration count and conversation complexity.

How is AI voice agent development priced?

Production-ready AI voice agents typically run $15,000 to $60,000 plus ongoing usage costs (telephony minutes, voice synthesis, LLM tokens). The build itself depends on call volume, integration count (CRM, calendar, ticketing), and conversation complexity. Simple inbound qualification agents at the lower end; multi-channel sales agents with CRM and calendar integration at the upper end. Usage costs typically run $0.05 to $0.30 per minute after launch.

What kinds of AI automation workflows does WebDesk create?

Most AI automation engagements run 4 to 12 weeks and target operations workflows where humans currently move data between systems. Common builds: lead-routing automation, content generation pipelines, support ticket triage and auto-response, order-status monitoring with proactive customer notifications, inventory alerts, and CRM enrichment. We build on Make.com (as a Make.com Partner), n8n, or custom Node.js stacks depending on the integration surface. See AI automation services for full scope.

Security, IP & Compliance

Buyers – especially enterprise and B2B – often need clear answers on confidentiality, IP ownership, data handling, and compliance frameworks before signing. Here’s how WebDesk handles each.

How does WebDesk protect project confidentiality?

Every project is governed by a mutual NDA signed before discovery begins. Access to project assets is scoped to the named delivery team only. Code repositories are private. Credentials are stored in a managed secrets vault, never shared in chat or email. We carry standard agency cyber insurance and are happy to sign client-specific MSAs and DPAs where required.

Who owns the intellectual property (IP) for work WebDesk delivers?

You own all final deliverables – code, designs, copy, configurations – upon final invoice payment. The IP transfer is spelled out in the scope. We retain the right to reference the project in our portfolio (subject to your approval on what’s shown), and we may reuse internal tooling and proprietary frameworks across clients – but anything specific to your project is yours.

What security and data-handling processes does WebDesk follow during migrations?

During migrations we work in parallel environments – never directly on production. Customer data is exported under encryption, mapped against the target schema, and validated before cutover. PII handling follows GDPR and PIPEDA requirements for our Canadian clients. We document data-at-rest and data-in-transit encryption, retention policies, and access logs in the migration playbook included with every engagement.

Can WebDesk Solution support enterprise compliance requirements?

Yes – most of our enterprise engagements operate under compliance frameworks like SOC 2, HIPAA (for healthcare clients), GDPR (EU customers), PIPEDA (Canadian data subjects), and PCI-DSS (any project touching cardholder data). We sign client-specific DPAs, BAAs (for HIPAA-covered entities), and MSAs as required. For regulated industries, we work alongside your security and legal teams during discovery to confirm the scope meets the audit framework before development starts.

Post-Launch Support & Maintenance

What happens after launch is often where agency engagements break down. Here’s how WebDesk handles the post-launch window and ongoing support.

What support does WebDesk provide after a project launches?

Every launch includes 30 days of post-launch support at no additional cost – bug fixes, deployment-related issues, and minor configuration adjustments. Beyond 30 days, you can either move to an ongoing managed-services retainer or engage us on a project basis for enhancements. Most clients move into a managed eCommerce support plan, which covers monitoring, security patches, performance tuning, and platform updates.

Does WebDesk offer ongoing maintenance and managed-services plans?

Yes – we offer monthly managed-services retainers for eCommerce, custom applications, and AI deployments. Plans typically cover platform monitoring, security patching, performance optimization, theme updates, and a defined number of development hours per month. Pricing scales with platform complexity and required SLAs. See our managed services plans for tiers and scope.

What happens to documentation, code, and credentials at project end?

At project end, we hand over a complete delivery packet: source code in your repository (Git ownership transferred to you), deployment documentation, integration credentials in your secrets vault, an architecture diagram, and a maintenance runbook. If you choose not to move to a retainer, we remain available for time-and-materials work on specific issues – no minimum, no retainer required.
