Google Docs: Download Your Document

Google Docs auto-saves a version of your document as you work, so there is no need to save a default copy of your Doc.

To email your document to helpmewrite@wc.edu, you will need to save your document on your computer as a Word or PDF document:

  1. Select the File menu from the main editing toolbar.
  2. Select Download.
  3. Choose your preferred format. Microsoft Word (.docx) is the ASC's preferred format.
  4. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Download folder.

Onedrive (Microsoft): Download Your Document

OneDrive automatically saves a version of your document as you work, so there is no need to save a default copy.

To email your document to helpmewrite@wc.edu, save it as a PDF on your computer. 

  1. Select the File menu from the main editing toolbar.
  2. Select Export.
  3. Select ​​​​​​Download as PDF.
  4. When the document is ready, you will be prompted to Download.
  5. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Download folder.

MacBook Pages: Download Your Document


1. Locate the File tab and highlight it.

2. A menu list will appear, scroll down to Export To and highlight. A sidebar menu will open; find Word and click it.

3. Once Word is clicked, a window will pop up. Here you can change the file type of your document.

4. Finally, there is the export window. Here you can change the file name and where the file will be stored. (By default the file will be stored in Downloads in your computer’s file but it is recommended to put your files in a specific location or folder for easy retrieval). Once you are satisfied with your file name and where you are storing it, hit export.
