Evaluating Resources

Includes how to evaluate sources as part of research and how to spot fake news.

When will you need to evaluate sources?

There are multiple levels to evaluating your resources

Does your assignment call for academic or peer-reviewed resources?

  • For articles, use Search It All or go directly to a database and click on Peer-reviewed
  • For books or eBooks, you will need to evaluate the publisher (a university?) and/or the author
  • For websites, follow the guidelines in this guide

Does your resource support your thesis statement?
