BAM – Construction Site Safety Onboarding
BAM developed a 360° VR simulation to raise safety awareness on construction sites, immersing employees in a realistic hazard scenario that proved impactful and effective during Safety Days.
The Client
BAM is a construction company operating in Europe. The company initiates, develops, builds, and maintains projects in housing, work, transport, and recreation. Safety is a top priority on the construction site.
The Question
Everyday tasks are often taken for granted, but when something goes wrong, the impact can be enormous. BAM wants to show employees the consequences of such mistakes so they become more aware of the dangers present on construction sites.
The Solution
A 360° animation was developed that simulates a construction site. Employees are shown securing a large object to a crane. Everything seems to be going well until the object detaches and falls uncontrollably, crushing workers underneath, creating a shocking effect.
The simulation clearly outlines what the “go’s” and “no go’s” are, ensuring employees become more cautious about construction site hazards in the future.
The Result
The simulation was presented to employees during BAM’s Safety Days. With the VR headset on, employees couldn’t escape the simulation and were directly exposed to the dangers.
The simulation was experienced as impactful, clear, and effective. Employees see VR as the future of hazard training because it focuses more on real-world scenarios. This increases the impact compared to traditional theoretical training.
